To qualify for the Provost's List, a student must earn a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more. A total of 1,409 SUNY Oneonta students earned Dean's List honors for the spring 2017 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more.

University of New Hampshire Announces May 2017 Graduates
The following students participated in the University of New Hampshire Commencement Ceremony held Saturday, May 20, 2017, in Durham, N.H. Students who received the honor of summa cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.85-4.0; students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.65-3.84; and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.50-3.64. Students are only graduated after the Registrar's Office has certified that all degree requirements have been successfully completed. Participating in the commencement ceremony is the act of honoring and celebrating academic achievement.

54 Students Receive Academic Achievement Awards
SUNY Oneonta recognized 54 outstanding students during an Academic Achievement Awards reception on May 3. One to three students were chosen from each of the college's academic departments and programs to receive the 2017 Academic Achievement Awards. Each student selected one faculty guest to accompany them to the recognition event. In addition to their excellent work in the classroom, students were honored for distinguishing themselves in many ways, including research, activism, mentoring, athletics, involvement in campus activities and volunteerism.

192 Students Receive Susan Sutton Smith Award
A total of 192 students received the SUNY Oneonta 2016-2017 Susan Sutton Smith Award for academic excellence. To be eligible for the award, a student must be a freshman, sophomore or junior with a grade-point average of 3.9 or higher. Student award winners receive a certificate, a gift card to the campus bookstore, and an invitation to attend the annual Susan Sutton Smith Lecture and reception. Dr. Florian Reyda, professor of biology, will deliver this year's Susan Smith Lecture titled, "Parasites, Evolution and Us," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, in the Otsego Grille of the Morris Conference Center on campus.

Three From RPI Field Hockey Recognized for Academics
The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) field hockey team, with its team grade point average of 3.26, has been recognized as one of the top academic teams in Division III by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). In addition to the team award, 13 student-athletes were named to the National Academic Squad with three - Mikaela DiBello, Christina Hanos & Lauren Hiltz - named to the Scholars of Distinction list.

Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its fall 2016 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum QPA of at least 3.500 for the term, provided that, in the term they have successfully completed courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits.

RPI Cross Country Lauded for Academic Success
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its annual All-Academic Team and individual awards and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's and women's cross country programs and student-athletes both earned recognition once again. The men's team finished the fall semester with a 3.26 grade point average, while the women's was 3.32. This is the 10th straight year the men have been honored and the ninth consecutive for the women. Both teams are coached by John Lynch.
