A total of 187 SUNY Oneonta students earned Provost's List honors for the spring 2016 semester. To qualify for the Provost's List, a student must earn a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more. The following area students were named to the spring 2017 SUNY Oneonta Provost's List:

A total of 1,409 SUNY Oneonta students earned Dean's List honors for the spring 2017 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 hours or more.

The following students participated in the University of New Hampshire Commencement Ceremony held Saturday, May 20, 2017, in Durham, N.H. Students who received the honor of summa cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.85-4.0; students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.65-3.84; and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.50-3.64. Students are only graduated after the Registrar's Office has certified that all degree requirements have been successfully completed. Participating in the commencement ceremony is the act of honoring and celebrating academic achievement.

SUNY Oneonta recognized 54 outstanding students during an Academic Achievement Awards reception on May 3. One to three students were chosen from each of the college's academic departments and programs to receive the 2017 Academic Achievement Awards. Each student selected one faculty guest to accompany them to the recognition event. In addition to their excellent work in the classroom, students were honored for distinguishing themselves in many ways, including research, activism, mentoring, athletics, involvement in campus activities and volunteerism.

University of Scranton students inducted into the national honor society for biology (Beta Beta Beta).

Nearly 140 SUNY Oneonta students presented original research and creative projects at the college's 2017 Student Research and Creative Activity Day on April 12.

The 21st Century Leaders Society is an honor society for School of Business majors.

The State University of New York at Potsdam will recognize more than 1,000 candidates for graduation during the College's 2017 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 20. The SUNY Potsdam Class of 2017 will be awarded baccalaureate and master's degrees at the ceremony.

Psi Chi is the international honor society in Psychology.

Pi Gamma Mu is the international social science honor society.

Omicron Delta Epsilon is the international honor society in Economics, Beta Nu chapter.

Alpha Kappa Delta is the Siena College international honor society in Sociology.

Alpha Kappa Alpha membership is the highest award granted to Siena College graduates.

The 2017 Siena College Senior Academic Awards honor the commitment and dedication that the class of 2017 has shown to their studies.

The Society is the nation's largest leadership honor society. Students are selected by their college for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction. With 548 chapters, the Society currently has 730,779 members nationwide.

A total of 192 students received the SUNY Oneonta 2016-2017 Susan Sutton Smith Award for academic excellence. To be eligible for the award, a student must be a freshman, sophomore or junior with a grade-point average of 3.9 or higher. Student award winners receive a certificate, a gift card to the campus bookstore, and an invitation to attend the annual Susan Sutton Smith Lecture and reception. Dr. Florian Reyda, professor of biology, will deliver this year's Susan Smith Lecture titled, "Parasites, Evolution and Us," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, in the Otsego Grille of the Morris Conference Center on campus.

Students represented SUNY New Paltz at the 2017 CME Group Trading Challenge.

Siena Baseball freshman pitcher Brendan White has been named the MAAC Rookie of the Week. The Mahopac, New York native twirled his first collegiate complete game shutout Saturday at NYIT.

Students were among 45 University of Scranton students who participated in six domestic service trips organized by Campus Ministries' Center for Service and Social Justice.

The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) field hockey team, with its team grade point average of 3.26, has been recognized as one of the top academic teams in Division III by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). In addition to the team award, 13 student-athletes were named to the National Academic Squad with three - Mikaela DiBello, Christina Hanos & Lauren Hiltz - named to the Scholars of Distinction list.

SUNY New Paltz Greek organizations induct new members for the Spring and Fall 2016 semesters.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

The SUNY Geneseo chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society recently inducted students into the organization during a campus ceremony. Sophomores, juniors or seniors with a grade point average that places them in the top 15 percent of their class are eligible for membership.

Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its fall 2016 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum QPA of at least 3.500 for the term, provided that, in the term they have successfully completed courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its annual All-Academic Team and individual awards and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's and women's cross country programs and student-athletes both earned recognition once again. The men's team finished the fall semester with a 3.26 grade point average, while the women's was 3.32. This is the 10th straight year the men have been honored and the ninth consecutive for the women. Both teams are coached by John Lynch.

The College of Saint Rose congratulates the 751 students named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2016 semester.

The State University of New York at Geneseo has announced its Dean's List for the Fall Semester 2016. To be on the list, a student must have achieved at least a 3.5 grade point average while taking a minimum of 12 credit hours.
